Megan's Gymnastics Exhibition
Megan has been taking gymnastics lessons this year. She did her exhibition a few days ago. It was fun and she enjoys all of the different events. Her favorites are beam and bars. The little stuffed toy was a gift from her teachers.
Haircuts
We went to Idaho for Mother's day weekend and had a girls morning out on Saturday - getting our hair done. Megan got her hair cut short (for the first time). She seems so much older with her hair short. I got my hair cut too. It was fun to spend a morning with my Mom. After our haircuts, we went home and watched Enchanted.
Front Landscaping
After about 4 years, we finally finished our front landscaping. We laid the bricks and filled our planter boxes with dirt. We also placed the same bricks around our front trees to help keep the weeds/grass away from the trunks. We planted some shrubs in our front bed - a Euonymus and two Spirea in the taller area and a couple of small Euonymus plants in the lower bed with some flowers and a Golden Chain Tree. The Japanese maple was planted back in 2004 after we did the sprinklers. We are happy with how it has all turned out. In the front flowerbed by the driveway we had planted some Boxwood's a few years ago, and they are doing great. We like to plant annuals in the bed around the boxwoods (after the daffodills die out.) Once we finish a few projects in the back yard and side of our house, we will be able to feel like yard work is just maintaining. We enjoy doing a little at a time - and as finances permit.

Pinewood Derby
Collin made his first Pinewood Derby. We borrowed the movie "Down and Derby" to prepare for the big event. It was hillarious. Dad and Collin shaped his car and made sure it weighed enough and that there was graphite on the wheels. I helped with some of the painting, but Collin did most of it. His car was shaped sort of like a shark and was supposed to be the shark Pokemon - Sharpedo. His car was in 6th place overall. There were about 25 to 30 boys who participated. Our Bishop's boy - Jake - was in 1st place. He had rented a track so he could try out Jake's car and have some practice runs with his other cousins. We just laugh because that is what the dads did in the movie "Down and Derby". I think our Bishop is a little competitive. All the siblings of the scouts enjoyed sitting right next to the track watching the cars go by. Caleb was one of those as you can see. He can't wait to be a cub scout in a few years.

Good bye to Duffy
We are sad to say good bye to a cute Scotty dog - Duffy. He was Ryan's parent's dog and was about 11 years old. He died on April 23rd. All of our kids loved to see Duffy when they visited Grandma and Grandpa. Each of them loved to give Duffy his treats and were always careful to watch for "Duffy-Doo" when they went in the back yard. We will miss him. Here are a few pictures we found of him from years earlier. The first two were during our first year of marriage in 1998. The 3rd picture was in 2002 when Duffy came to stay with us during Thanksgiving. The last picture is in 2007 with most of the grandkids during the 4th of July.
